Blair Rowlands Hughes-Stanton was an influential English wood engraver born on February 22, 1902. He played a crucial role in the twentieth-century revival of wood engraving. As the son of artist Sir Herbert Hughes-Stanton, he was associated with the Society of Wood Engravers but preferred the philosophy of the English Wood Engraving Society, which he helped establish in 1925. From 1930 to 1933, he co-directed the Gregynog Press alongside his wife, Gertrude Hermes.
