Bo Rikard Döös was a Swedish meteorologist born on February 20, 1922, in Stockholm and died on January 12, 2010. He was instrumental in the development of the world's first operational numerical weather forecast, calculated on March 24, 1954, using the BESK computer. Döös served as a professor at the Meteorological Institution at Stockholm University until 1970 and was the director of the Global Atmospheric Research Program (GARP) from 1971 to 1982. He was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and is buried at Bromma Cemetery.
