Bob Chappuis was an American football player who excelled as a halfback and quarterback for the University of Michigan Wolverines in the 1940s. He interrupted his college career to serve in World War II, where he flew missions in B-25 bombers. After the war, he set multiple football records and led Michigan to an undefeated season and a Rose Bowl victory. Chappuis was recognized as a unanimous All-American and finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1947. He played professionally in the AAFC before retiring and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
