Bob van Rootselaar was a Dutch mathematician and professor at Wageningen Agricultural University. Born in Amsterdam in 1927, he studied mathematics at the University of Amsterdam and obtained his PhD under Arend Heyting with a thesis on the Brouwer integral. He proved Egoroff's theorem for the Brouwer integral and worked at the Mathematical Institute in Amsterdam. Later, he became a professor of pure mathematics and analysis at Wageningen, mentoring numerous PhD students and publishing extensively. After retiring in 1988, he returned to Amsterdam, where he passed away in 2006.
