He served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1992 to 2016, representing the 89th District. Initially a Democrat, Shows switched to the Republican Party in 2010, citing a lack of support for white conservatives in the Democratic Party. He was also a businessman and attended the University of Southern Mississippi.
