Bokkie JJ Gerber is an Afrikaans journalist and editor born in 1953. He began his career on June 1, 1979, as a member of the Cape editorial team at the Afrikaans Sunday newspaper, Rapport. Gerber served as the sports editor for twelve years and was the senior deputy editor from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, he became the founding editor of Sport24 after the merger of the sports departments of Die Burger, Beeld, Volksblad, and Rapport. He was appointed editor of Rapport in 2011 until his retirement in May 2013.
