Prince Ajibola Afonja, known as Bola Afonja, was a prominent Nigerian politician and philanthropist born on 21 February 1943. He served as Minister of Labour under Ernest Shonekan and held a position on the board of trustees for the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). Afonja was also the Chairman of the Board of Directors at First Bank plc, Nigeria's largest commercial bank, retiring on his 70th birthday in 2013. He passed away from accidental injuries at the University College Hospital in Ibadan at the age of 81.
