Boris Cijan was a Slovenian aeronautical engineer, aircraft designer, military test pilot, flight instructor, and university professor. Born on February 11, 1909, in Gorica, Austria-Hungary, he co-founded the first academic gliding group in Yugoslavia in 1929. He is best known for designing various gliders and military training aircraft, with notable models including the Utva Aero 3 and Ikarus Meteor. Cijan authored a significant work on gliding, published in 1949, earning him the title 'father of gliding in Yugoslavia'. He passed away on August 14, 1993, in Belgrade, FR Yugoslavia.
