Boris Dmitrievich Shchapov (February 17, 1921 – May 30, 1944) was a Soviet pilot and Hero of the Soviet Union during World War II. He served as a senior pilot in the 144th Guards Ground Attack Aviation Regiment. After training young pilots, he requested to serve on the front lines and participated in numerous battles, conducting 133 combat sorties and destroying several enemy aircraft. He was killed in action near Yassyi, Romania. Shchapov was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
