Benjamin Joe 'Bennie' Houston, known as Boston Blackie, was an influential Chicago blues guitarist and bandleader. Born in Alabama, he moved to Chicago in 1962 and played with notable musicians while developing a raw musical style. Playing at various blues clubs, he gained a reputation for his aggressive performance. Unfortunately, his life was cut short when he was shot by a fellow blues musician, resulting in the conviction of involuntary manslaughter against the shooter.
