Born in 1943, he served as the deputy director and head of the Microbiology division at the Central Drug Research Institute. Srivastava founded Biotech Research, a non-profit institution dedicated to biotechnology research, and is the director of Nextec Lifesciences Private Limited, focusing on biomedical products. He received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 1984 from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for his outstanding work in Medical Sciences.
