Brandon Sanderson (born December 19, 1975) is an American fantasy and science fiction author known for creating a universe called Cosmere, where most of his fantasy novels take place, including the acclaimed series 'Mistborn' and 'The Stormlight Archive.' He is also recognized for completing the 'Wheel of Time' series originally written by Robert Jordan. Sanderson established the 'Sanderson's Laws of Magic' and distinguished between hard and soft magic systems. In 2008, he began a podcast called 'Writing Excuses' with authors Dan Wells and Howard Tayler.
