He played college football at the University of Iowa during the 2009 season, where he rushed for 641 yards and set a freshman record with eight touchdowns. Wegher then played two seasons at Morningside College in 2013-2014, setting an NAIA national rushing record with 2,610 yards in 2014. His family includes his brother, Jack, who played at Purdue University, and his father, Rick, who played college football at South Dakota State University.
