Braňo Alex, also known by the nickname Šimpy, was a Slovak punk bassist, composer, lyricist, and singer born on December 19, 1965. He was a co-founder of the bands Zóna A and Slobodná Európa and was recognized as an important figure in the Czechoslovak punk rock scene. Alex made significant contributions to the genre through his work in music and remains influential in the punk community until his passing on May 6, 2021, in Bratislava.
