He began his professional career in 1983 after being selected by the San Antonio Spurs during the draft. Standing 6 feet 9 inches tall (2.1 m), he played as a forward. Weidner wore the number 25 during his time in the NBA and played for the San Antonio Spurs as well as the Den Bosch Basketball Club before retiring in 1984.
