Brendan McWilliams was an influential Irish meteorologist and science writer born in Dublin on August 7, 1944. Raised in Waterville, County Kerry, he studied mathematical science at University College Cork and joined the Irish Meteorological Service in 1965. He became known for his weather presentations on RTÉ television. McWilliams held various leadership roles in the meteorological field, including as Director of Administration for the European Meteorological Satellite Organisation. He contributed a popular weather column to The Irish Times and participated in radio broadcasts until his death on October 22, 2007.
