Brian Carbury (1918–1961) was a renowned New Zealand fighter ace in the Royal Air Force during World War II, credited with destroying 15.5 German aircraft. Born in Wellington, he joined the RAF in 1937 and flew Supermarine Spitfires. Carbury was involved in critical battles, including the Battle of Britain, where he notably shot down five German aircraft in one day. After the war, he was implicated in illegal activities related to aircraft exports and faced court-martial for dishonesty. His life ended prematurely in 1961 due to leukaemia.
