Brian Michael Downey, born on January 27, 1951, in Dublin, is an Irish drummer, musician, and composer, best known as a founding member of the rock band Thin Lizzy. He played as a drummer for the band, contributing to major hits like 'Whiskey In The Jar' and 'The Boys Are Back In Town.' Downey is regarded as one of the best rock drummers in the world. After the band's hiatus following the death of Phil Lynott, he played in tributes and contributed to other projects, including Gary Moore's album 'Close as You Get' in 2007.
