Brian Kobilka, born in May 1955, is an American biochemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2012. He serves as a professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Kobilka earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth and his master's degree from Yale University. In 2011, he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Kobilka is also noted for being a practicing Roman Catholic.
