Brian William Mier was an Australian politician born on February 21, 1935, in Footscray, Melbourne. He became an apprentice plumber in 1949 and joined the Labor Party after national service from 1954 to 1956. Mier served as secretary of the ALP's Footscray-Seddon branch and later as a full-time organizer with the Labor Party. He was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council for Waverley Province in 1982 and became Minister for Prices, Aboriginal Affairs and Consumer Affairs in 1990. Mier retired from politics in 1996 and passed away on September 12, 2009.
