George William Brian Upson was a Canadian basketball player and coach born on January 30, 1931, in Ottawa. He represented Canada at the 1959 World Championships as a player. Later, as a coach, he led the West Vancouver Highlanders to victory in the BC High School Championship on March 20, 1982, despite battling cancer. His inspirational return to coaching occurred against medical advice, and he passed away shortly after the championship. His remarkable story was depicted in the film 'Longshot'.
