He is recognized for his work as a saxophonist and drummer, with a career beginning in 1963. Johnsen has performed with various groups and participated in numerous bebop-inspired projects. He has been active in famed jazz clubs, recorded music for theater, toured internationally, and established a prominent jazz club in Oslo. Additionally, Brinck Johnsen founded Roman Records in 1993 and has resided in Tønsberg and Spain since 1987.
