Britta Neander was a German musician and artist, born on June 29, 1956, in Hamburg. She became a significant figure in the alternative music scene after moving to Berlin as a teenager. In 1979, she founded one of the first German women’s rock bands, Carambolage. As a drummer and percussionist, she played with notable acts including Rio Reiser's band Ton Steine Scherben. Neander was also involved in children's arts, illustrated books, and created visually striking decorations for venues in Berlin. She passed away at 48 after heart surgery.
