Bruno Covas was a Brazilian lawyer, economist, and politician born on April 7, 1980, and he served as the Mayor of São Paulo from 2018 until his death in 2021. A member of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party, Covas was the grandson of former São Paulo Governor Mário Covas. Prior to becoming mayor, he held positions as the National President of Youth and Minister of State for the Environment in São Paulo. He was diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer in 2019 but continued to fulfill his duties until his passing on May 16, 2021.
