Buzzy Trent, born Goodwin Murray Trent Jr., was a pioneering big wave surfer who gained international fame in 1953 when he was photographed riding a 20-foot wave at Mākaha. He was an exceptional athlete, playing football and engaging in diving and hang gliding. He was featured in the 2004 documentary film 'Riding Giants' and died in 2006 at the age of 77.
