Chokalinga Chittibabu, also known as Mayor Chittibabu, was an influential Indian politician from Tamil Nadu. He served as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing the Chengalpattu constituency in 1967 and 1971. His political career began when he was elected to the Madras Corporation in 1958, ultimately becoming the Mayor in 1965. Chittibabu faced persecution during the Emergency period imposed by Indira Gandhi, leading to his imprisonment in 1976. Tragically, he died due to injuries sustained from police torture while attempting to protect M.K. Stalin in Madras Central Prison.
