Charles David Chanel Reeve, born on September 10, 1948, is an Irish-American historian of philosophy specializing in ancient philosophy. He obtained a B.A. from Trinity College Dublin in 1971, an M.A. from Cornell University in 1975, and another M.A. from Trinity College Dublin in 1976. He earned his Ph.D. at Cornell University in 1980. Reeve has worked primarily on ancient Greek philosophy, especially Plato and Aristotle, and has also published on the philosophy of sex and love and the philosophy of film.
