Chaudhari Rehmatullah Aslam was a prominent Pakistani politician born on January 15, 1913, in Shahkot. Initially influenced by leftist ideologies, he joined the Communist Party of India in 1940. After facing arrests due to his trade union activities, he became a key figure in the National Awami Party and later founded the Pakistan Socialist Party. Aslam also launched the weekly publication 'Awami Jamhuriat'. His political journey continued with the establishment of the National Workers Party in 1999, ensuring his legacy in Pakistani leftist politics until his death on July 10, 2007.
