Cándido Muatetema Rivas was a prominent Equatorial Guinean politician and served as Prime Minister from 2001 to 2004. Born on February 20, 1960, in Batete, he held several key positions, including General Treasurer and Secretary of State for Youth and Sports. A co-founder of the youth section of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea, he was appointed Prime Minister by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema in 2001. Rivas resigned in 2004 and became the Ambassador to Germany, a role he maintained until his death on June 16, 2014, in Berlin at the age of 54.
