Canek Sánchez Guevara (1974–2015) was a Cuban author, photographer, musician, and dissident, who was the grandson of Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara. Growing up in the elite of post-revolutionary Cuba, he became disillusioned with Fidel Castro's regime. Following his mother's death, he went into exile in Mexico, where he wrote critiques of the Cuban government for Proceso. He passed away in 2015 due to complications from heart surgery.
