Carl Jerrold Peterson was a United States Navy Lieutenant Commander and the commanding officer of Patrol River Boat Squadron 57. He was born on October 31, 1936, and tragically lost his life in action during the Vietnam War on April 2, 1969. Peterson was later buried in Arlington National Cemetery. In recognition of his service, the USS Peterson was named in his honor in 1975.
