Carl Thorp (1912–1989) was an American artist known for his Impressionist landscapes of California and cityscapes of New York City, Boston, and New Orleans. Born in Lubbock, Texas, he pursued art from a young age, overcoming initial discouragement from his father. Thorp studied at San Diego State College and the Academy of Fine Arts under notable instructors. In the 1950s, he organized art schools in California and served as a director and instructor. Later in his career, he moved to Louisiana and became well-known for his artworks reflecting his travels and experiences.
