Carla Pérez is an Ecuadorian mountaineer, born on December 28, 1982. She made history in 2019 by becoming the first woman to successfully summit both Mount Everest and K2 in the same year. Although Alison Hargreaves had reached both peaks in 1995, it was done unsupported and without supplemental oxygen, and she tragically died during the descent of K2. Additionally, Pérez is noted for being the first woman from the Americas to ascend K2 without the use of supplemental oxygen.
