Carlos Oteyza is a Venezuelan film director, historian, and screenwriter born on June 9, 1951, in Caracas, Venezuela. He began his career with the short fiction film 'Siete Notas' in 1971 but has primarily focused on documentary filmmaking. He collaborated with writers like Salvador Garmendia and José Ignacio Cabrujas. His most recent feature film, 'El Pueblo Soy Yo: Venezuela en Populismo,' was produced in 2018. Oteyza is also the founder of the historical documentary collection Cine Archivo and serves in leadership roles at Cinesa and Bolívar Films.
