Carlos Câncio Poyares was a Brazilian composer and flutist born on December 5, 1928, in Colatina. He was active in the music scene during the 1980s and 1990s, performing at renowned venues such as Bar Clube do Choro alongside Manzinho da Flauta and the bandolinist Jorge Souto. He collaborated with various groups, notably with his ensemble Simplicidade. Poyares also played music at Rua do Choro and at Vou vivendo, a bar dedicated to masters Pixinguinha and Benedito Lacerda. He passed away on May 5, 2004, in Brasília.
