Carlos Prieto de Castro is a Mexican mathematician born in Mexico City on February 27, 1948. He served as President of the Mexican Mathematical Society from 1990 to 1992 and has held a position at Mexico's National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). Since 1971, he has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Sciences and became a full-time researcher at the Institute of Mathematics at UNAM in 1974. Since 2010, he has been a level III member of the National System of Researchers and participated in various evaluative committees.
