Carme Forcadell, born on May 29, 1955, is a Spanish politician from Catalonia. She served as the former president of the Parliament of Catalonia and is a high school teacher known for her Catalan independence activism. Forcadell was a co-founder of the Language Platform and served as the president of the Catalan National Assembly from its inception until May 2015. She won a seat in the Catalan Parliament in 2015 and was elected president in October of that year, holding the position until January 2018. Imprisoned from 2018 to 2021 for her role in the independence movement, she was released after a government pardon.
