María del Carmen Márquez Jiménez, also known as Lita Márquez de Romero Aceves, was a prominent Mexican politician born on July 8, 1935, in Tijuana, Baja California. She made history as the first elected federal deputy from Baja California and also became the first senator from the state. A member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), her contributions to Mexican politics were significant in shaping representation for her state. She passed away on September 18, 2021.
