Carmita Jiménez (1939–2003) was a renowned Puerto Rican singer recognized as a diva. She began her career at six on a radio show and gained fame through performances and albums, including the hit 'Tierra Rica'. After relocating to Peru, she continued her success, returning to Puerto Rico in 1968. In the 1970s, she embraced disco music with hits like 'La Generacion De Hoy'. Later, she transitioned into stage acting. Diagnosed with cancer in 1985, she battled the illness until her death at home in Caguas, Puerto Rico. A room at the Centro de Bellas Artes is named in her honor.
