Carol A. Kontos (born December 5, 1946) is an American politician and college professor from Maine. A member of the Democratic Party, she served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1990 to 1998 and was elected Majority Leader during her final term. After her tenure in the House, she was elected to the Maine Senate but lost her re-election bid in 2000. Kontos is also an associate professor of English at the University of Maine at Augusta and holds degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of Maine.
