Carol Anne Philipps was a Canadian journalist and prominent activist, best known as the original editor of Swerve, Winnipeg's first LGBT community magazine. She came out in high school and later lived with her partner Noreen Stevens. Active in the LGBT community, Philipps campaigned for candidates and advocated for rights, contributing significantly to media discourse. She married Virginia McKee in 2007 and continued writing after stepping down from Swerve in 1997 due to health issues, until her death in 2009.
