Carole Gist is an American television host and model, born on May 8, 1969. She made history by becoming the first African American woman to win the Miss USA title in 1990. Gist's victory not only earned her the Miss USA crown but also secured her the second place in the Miss Universe pageant. She was the first African American winner from Michigan, breaking a five-year winning streak of contestants from Texas. Her success in the beauty pageant world highlighted her prominence in the growing representation of Black women in such competitions.
