Carolyn W. Colvin is a prominent figure who served as the Acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration in the United States from February 14, 2013, after succeeding Michael J. Astrue. She was nominated by President Barack Obama to be the commissioner, but her nomination was never brought before the full Senate for a vote. Prior to her commissionership, she held the position of Deputy Commissioner and has significant experience in the Social Security Administration dating back to the 1990s. Colvin is also an alumnus of Morgan State University.
