Carroll Shelby (January 11, 1923 - May 10, 2012) was an American automotive designer, racing driver, and organizer. He is best known for developing the AC Cobra sports car and later modifying the Ford Mustang into a high-performance vehicle known as the Shelby Mustang in 1965. Shelby founded the Shelby American company in 1962, which currently sells modified Ford cars and high-performance parts.
