Spijkers was head chef at restaurant De Swaen, where he earned his first Michelin star in 1981 and later achieved a second star in 1984. His culinary expertise helped elevate the restaurant's status, but it lost its Michelin star after he stepped down in 1998. Spijkers passed away on October 29, 2011, in Oirschot.
