Casper ter Galestin was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II, born in Batavia on December 15, 1905. He founded and led the resistance group Groep Galestin, which helped Allied pilots escape from Friesland by providing food, false identity papers, and transferring them to other resistance fighters. His group was betrayed by an infiltrator, leading to the arrest of several members, including ter Galestin, who was executed at Vught Camp on September 5, 1944. Posthumously, he received the Medal of Freedom from the American government for his assistance to pilots.
