Catharine 'Kitty' McClellan (1921-2009) was an American cultural anthropologist renowned for her documentation of oral history and storytelling among Athabascan, Tlingit, and Tagish peoples in the Yukon Territory. Beyond academia, she actively advocated for indigenous rights, notably during the 1976 Mackenzie Valley Pipeline debate. McClellan was married to fellow anthropologist John Hitchcock in 1974 until his passing in 2001.
