Sister Cecilia Thackaberry (née Sarah Agnes Thackaberry) was an Irish nun with the Presentation Sisters. Born in Dublin on July 7, 1909, she dedicated her life to teaching and relief work. She was killed in Nigeria in September 1969 while assisting refugees during the Nigerian Civil War. Thackaberry led a group of sisters to Nigeria in 1965, where she established schools and supported famine relief efforts. Her tragic death has been characterized as martyrdom for charity, and she is remembered for her commitment to serving those in need.
