Cerys Elizabeth Matthews, MBE, born on April 11, 1969, is a Welsh singer who began playing guitar at the age of nine. She gained fame in the early 1990s as a founding member of the band Catatonia, performing with them until their disbandment in 2002. In 1999, she collaborated with Tom Jones on the song 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' from his album Reload. She also featured on 'Cyclops Rock' from They Might Be Giants' album Mink Car in 2001. Matthews has released several solo albums and was ranked 71st in the 100 Welsh Heroes. In 2014, she was awarded an MBE.
