He holds a degree in Theology from the Pontifical University of Comillas, obtained in 1978, and earned a doctorate in Theology in 1983. He has served as a parish vicar in multiple parishes, a chaplain at Colegio San Fernando, and as Secretary of the Presbyteral Council of Madrid from 1986 to 1994. He was also the rector of the Oratorio Santo Niño del Remedio and the coordinator for World Youth Day Madrid 2011.
